AI Roundtable

Machine Learning at Public Safety Organizations

Join our exclusive roundtable for an open discussion about machine learning and the usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the public safety space.

AI is powerful and provides many benefits for Public Safety organizations, but Artificial Intelligence systems are not always perfect and can produce unexpected or negative outcomes. To combat this, an emerging set of principles for the responsible use of AI can help to mitigate risks and increase trust in these systems.

In the first round table, we discussed fairness in data and explored ways we could avoid the introduction bias into AI systems.

In this round table, we introduce the next two pillars of a Responsible AI Strategy:

Reliability

Reliability in AI systems is the idea that systems should perform reliably and safely. As AI systems become more involved in complex daily operations, organizations must be able to trust and rely on AI technology.

  • How can we assess and determine if AI output is reliable?
  • How can we ensure that AI systems perform well “in the field”?
  • How do we help AI systems to respond safely to data outside of its experience?

Privacy & Security

Responsible AI guidelines maintain that AI systems should be secure and respect privacy.

AI must be protected from cybersecurity risks that might lead to physical and/or digital harm. As AI becomes more widely used, attackers are learning to use AI to change the way systems recognize data, or the way devices respond and communicate.

  • What does security mean for AI systems, and how is this different to normal cybersecurity considerations?
  • How can security of data that the AI system uses be effectively secured?

Privacy is a major concern for AI systems, as insights are created from private or personal data. Organizations must ensure that AI systems are secure and comply with data regulations.

  • How can organizations build AI systems that effectively store and utilize real data without compromising personal identifiable information?

Please join us for an interactive conversation as we continue to discover best practices in the responsible use of AI.

In order to facilitate a productive discussion and allow everyone the opportunity to contribute, these interactive sessions will be limited to 20 participants.
